MCP
Yes the license can be transferred, sombody at the NCRA didn't know what they were talking about, the CRTC are the ones who control things. And acording to them yes it ccan be transferred and the parties talking to MCP know this.
Thanks for the informative
Thanks for the informative post. I am aware of 3 groups (some seeming to be working in secrecy) who are looking into keeping community radio alive in Powell River. The article printed nearly a month and a half ago on page 4 of the May/June 2009 issue clearly states that "with the apparent imminent demise of CJMP Radio 90.1FM..." and makes no mention of MCP. At the time of printing there was no forthcoming information about any other entities planing to revive the station.
You are probably referring to the online poll. As far as I have found out, the MCP is clearly not in favor of maintaining the community radio license, and a community radio license cannot be simply transfered to a new entity—-a new application must be made. The wording of the poll stands true as far as I know. I'll be happy to close the poll and/or revise it should any information to the contrary become known.
Thanks for using our new website. We hope that it will become a central source for the sharing of ideas and knowledge.
Please feel free to use Immanence Magazine to let the community know what is happening to their community radio station if you have any information.
Corey Matsumoto
